March came and went and who even knows which are the lion and the lamb parts anymore. Winter Board was fun and educational and productive. Many thanks to Shari Peace for being the best person to work with and for trying to meet all the needs I heaped upon her. And now April has raced away from us. Administrative Professional Week® was a blur. * I was privileged to attend Northern Kentucky Chapter’s April monthly meeting. I very much enjoyed spending time with them. * I also had the privilege of attending an excellent day at the Louisville Chapter’s APW celebration seminars and luncheon. Good job, Louisville Chapter! * I made it back in time to make a short presentation about IAAP and participate in Hopkinsville Chapter’s IAAP APW seminar. Good job, Hopkinsville! I am hopeful that the opportunities of APW week allowed you to recruit new members. I also hope your commitment was renewed and you had opportunities to reflect on the association’s value to you. Don’t forget to check out the newest Division fundraiser at http://currentfun.com/. Order something fun! Let me know if you need instructions regarding how to order for the Division gets its share of the proceeds. Come join us for Annual Meeting and spend quality time with other administrative professionals in a fun, exciting, learning atmosphere. See you there! Wanda Hart CPS/CAP KY Division President 2009-2010 2010 APW Activities Blue Grass Chapter hosted two recruiting events for APW – one in Lexington (4/20) and one in Harrodsburg (4/27) Hopkinsville Chapter hosted a dinner with guest speaker: Message from Int’l President and Executive Director In recent months you may have received promotions or inquiries from OfficeArrow. There has been a good deal of confusion regarding IAAP’s relationship to OfficeArrow, and we would like to clarify exactly what that relationship is. IAAP is a not-for-profit corporation. In its day-to-day operations it must generate income to survive, and as such, IAAP does have competitors both in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors. OfficeArrow is a for-profit competitor of IAAP’s, whose business model closely resembles IAAP’s, with members and sponsors pulled from the same pool as IAAP. IAAP does not regard OfficeArrow as a partner or sponsor at the International level. IAAP is a member driven organization with an elected board of directors while OfficeArrow is a for-profit business with owners outside the administrative professional’s field. In the past year, IAAP has sustained a quantifiable drop in income directly related to OfficeArrow’s influence. IAAP has contacted OfficeArrow about their unauthorized use of IAAP trademarks and service marks in their advertising and use of such on their website. The only legal use of the IAAP logo, the abbreviation “IAAP” or even our association’s name is in identifying discussion boards on their site for IAAP units that have been created by OfficeArrow users, not created by OfficeArrow or its employees. IAAP has the right to advise an association wide restriction on the promotion of OfficeArrow but we choose not to do so at this time. It is our hope, that as the leaders of IAAP, you will take this information into account when selecting or accepting speakers, exhibitors and sponsors for your chapter or division.
