I am very excited to serve as your Division Vice President - thank you for this wonderful opportunity. I am also very touched and excited to have received the 2008 Wilma Yeary Award. This is especially meaningful for me since I consider Wilma to be one of my IAAP mentors.

I have created a new version of the Kentucky Division Board/Committee/Special Appointee Roster. This roster is included in an Excel workbook which also includes the current month's download of the rosters for KY Division MAL, SED MAL and each Chapter - once fully compiled each month the document is emailed to the division members each month. Advantages of this new process:

"Membership" rosters are fully automated as downloads from HQ
Information is in Excel format and can be used for 'mail merging' if desired; the list can also be quickly sorted based on data variables (i.e. length of membership, certification, etc.)
The worksheet for the Kentucky Division Officer/Board Member list is also a visual tool that depicts the heirarchy of the Division organization
- This list also includes the permanent 'forwarding' email addresses for division offices
Since information is downloaded and emailed to division board/committee members each month, everybody has access to current/up-to-date information.

Blue Grass Chapter Report

On behalf of the Bluegrass Chapter, the following report is submitted:

Bluegrass Chapter is proud to have two members serve on the KY Division Board, Mary Beth Shera, CAP as President and Jacky Ammerman, CAP as Vice President.
Jacky Ammerman was presented the Wilma Yeary Award at KY Division Annual Meeting in June.
We are sponsoring an Education Forum, Maintaining Star Status in Today's Office Environments , on September 26 at the Lexington Downtown Hotel & Conference Center, formerly the Radisson Plaza.
The focus for this year’s Bluegrass Chapter is Active member involvement, Membership, and Certification.
We plan to host impact meetings in surrounding cities this year to promote IAAP in central Kentucky.
We have our committee in place and plans are underway for the 2009 KY Division Meeting to be held in Lexington.
At our installation/awards banquet in June, we celebrated three members who sat for certification exams this past year. One member achieved CPS certification, and two members achieved CAP certification. We also recognized Joyce Jewell as chapter member of the year for 2008.
Due to high gas prices and very busy schedules, many of this year’s chapter board meetings will immediately follow the monthly chapter meetings.
Our Ways and Means Committee is currently sponsoring a Butterbraid and Cookie Dough fundraiser.

Louisville Chapter

The Louisville Chapter has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming year. It has been a very busy and productive month.

The Louisville Chapter Board has reviewed the Pathways to Excellence information and is ready to roll it out to the members at the September meeting. The Louisville Chapter is also planning several events this year for its members. One such event is a Company Appreciation night. Members will nominate their executive and company and an independent panel of judges will determine the winner. This will take place in November.

The Louisville Chapter had a net gain this past year of 3 new members, but in reality the chapter gained 22 new members. With so many new members, the Louisville Chapter held a “Member Orientation” to introduce the board to the new members and share with them what IAAP has to offer.

The PR/Publicity committee is hard at work getting the IAAP name out to the public. The Professional Development committee is working on speakers, venues and an agenda for the APW event. Things are coming together for a busy and successful year.

Northern Kentucky Chapter

Northern Kentucky member, Alice Schultz CPS, is serving as Membership Committee Chair for the Kentucky Division this year.
Paula Zechella is our Fundraising Chair this year. She is looking in to new fundraising ideas as well as running our Entertainment Book campaign.
Sheila Shields CPS is attending this weekend’s Kentucky Division Meeting.
Our next installment of the “Turftracks” newsletter will be published in September.
Sheila Leavitt has offered to host our August Board Meeting at her Lucrum office in downtown Cincinnati next week.

Paducah - Kentucky Lakes Chapter

On behalf of the Paducah-Kentucky Lake Chapter, the following report is submitted:

One member sat for the CAP® exam and received certification.
One member sat for the CPS® exam.
The chapter named a Member of the Year, and a Boss of the Year, and the recipients were announced and recognized at our June Awards night and installation dinner.
We had FIVE new members join, and one MAL in the Paducah area (membership committee will be contacting her).
Membership committee will be continuing their recruitment efforts to area business presidents and HR managers.
Pathways to Excellence – Chapter of Excellence requirements distributed and discussed.

Member retention efforts have included member surveys, contact with members as their membership expires, and the implementation of a new member orientation program.
We now have a webmaster and she is in the process of collecting information for our website, and is currently looking into a cost-effective web hosting service.
As a Ways & Means project, we are bringing in a gold buyer for our August meeting, and he has committed to donating 10% of his pay-out to the Chapter.
CHEERS to Jacky Ammerman for maintaining the Division website!!
We enjoyed it, but we are certainly glad that the 56^th Kentucky Division Annual Meeting is OVER, and we are looking forward to attending the 57^th Annual meeting in Lexington!

The most current version of the Bylaws and Standing Rules file was posted to the Kentucky Division website after KDAM 2008.

Several bylaws are under review to ensure that the Division's future needs are addressed appropriately. Some of these defer to International Bylaws which must also be reviewed before considering any changes to the Division bylaws.

Preliminary organization of the 2008/2009 committee is underway with our first endeavor commencing with this morning’s presentation.

The committee, at this point, consists of Pam Cradic, CPS as committee chair, Donna Brown CPS/CAP and Sheila Shields CPS as committee members. We will recruit more moving toward the Fall Board meeting.

The report filed for the Fall Board meeting will entail our full education plan for the year.

The monthly use/activity reports are emailed to Kentucky Division members at the beginning of each month.

$60 budget has been requested to cover the website subscription service.

Plans for continued website development for this fiscal year:

Develop a Blog space for the site so that Kentucky Division Board and Committee members to use.
- Used properly this could reduce the amount of emails (and 'reply all' responses) that are sent for sharing info
Further educate board/committee chairs on the advantage and use of the "forwarding" email addresses that have been standardized through the Kentucky Division website
Development of online registration for KDAM 2009
A poll/survey will be sent to board members/committee chairs to assess the website services and determine future needs for our website.

Parliamentarian

The Parliamentarian assumed her duties following her appointment on June 8, 2008, at the Board Meeting following the 2008 Annual Meeting. She has provided advice and consultation to the President, other Officers, Committee Chairs, and members. The Parliamentarian also serves on the Kentucky Division Bylaws and Standing Rules Committee.

For some time, this member has been concerned about the lack of a parliamentary resource group within the Kentucky Division membership. It is her belief that, in addition to the obvious benefits to individual members, such a group could serve as a resource for the Division President in the selection of her Parliamentary Advisor/Parliamentarian.

With this need in mind, and in keeping with President Shera’s challenge that we develop a mentoring program for future leaders, the Parliamentarian communicated with members of the Kentucky Division about their interest in an opportunity to study Parliamentary Procedures (Law). The responses indicate a significant level of interest, so we will hold an informal discussion at this Leadership Training conference to discuss how we proceed.
